| Formation of SDTC
An MoU was entered into on 23rd March, 1999
between Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT), Indian Institute of Science (IISc)
and the Society for Innovation and Development (SID) for a long term collaborative
R & D programme called 'Sir Dorabji Tata Centre for Research in Tropical
Diseases" (SDTC). The Centre was inaugurated on 26th May 2000 by
J.J. Bhabha of SDTT.
Objectives of SDTC
-
To carry out basic and applied research
in the area of Tropical Diseases and other emerging health disorders
with a view to developing methods of diagnosis, newer drugs and vaccines.

To provide a support mechanism and facilities
for interaction between scientists and clinicians and others interested
in carrying out R & D and allied activities for the alleviation
of Tropical Diseases.

To provide and create facilities for R
& D and training for clinicians and scientists in the area of Tropical
Diseases.

To interact with industry through SID
to develop products and processes for the alleviation of Tropical Diseases.
