As seen earlier, one of the objectives of SDTC is to organise workshop and symposia with a view to disseminate knowledge in the field of Tropical Diseases and to provide an effective interaction among the experts in medical and basic research institutions. SDTC has so far organised ten symposia viz. "Status of Tuberculosis in India - 2000", "Malaria - The Indian Scene and Vaccine Research in India - 2001", "Diarrhoeal Diseases - 2002", "Acute Respiratory Disease - 2003", "Leishmaniasis 2004", Viral Hepatitis-2005, "HIV/AIDS-Research Issues",-2006, "Arthropod Borne Viral Infections", 10th and 11th March 2008 on “Antimicrobial Resistance”, 10th, 11th and 12th March 2009 on "Mechanisms of Microbial Pathogenesis" and the eleventh one is being organised on 10th and 11th March 2010 on "Diagnostics in Infections".
