The Seventh workshop on “Introduction to Molecular Epidemiology with genotyping of MRSA as an example” was held between 4 and 8 July 2006 with Dr. Gayathri Arakere as the coordinator and Ms. Savitha Nadig and Ms. Bharathi.D and Ms. Prasanthi as Demonstrators.

A Special Lecture by Dr. Deshpande on “Principles of Molecular Epidemiology in particular reference to Poliomyelitis” was organized as a part of this workshop for the benefit of participants as well as students and staff of medical colleges in Bangalore

The practical sessions involved the following techniques:

Chromosomal DNA isolation, Phenol Extraction and Precipitation of DNA, Multiplex PCR, Agarose Gel analysis of PCR product, Preparation and running of PFGE.

Introduction to Bioinformatics to learn Multi - locus Sequence Typing
