Research associates / fellows

| Job profile |
To carry out basic and
applied research in the area of tropical diseases and other emerging
health disorders, with a view to developing methods of diagnosis,
newer drugs and vaccines.
To provide a support mechanism, and facilities
for interaction between scientists and clinicians and others interested
in carrying out research and development and allied activities
for the alleviation of tropical diseases.
To provide and create facilities for
research and development and training for clinicians and scientists
in tropical diseases.
To interact with industry through SID
to develop products and processes for the alleviation of tropical
diseases.

| Qualifications |
PhD in biological sciences, with
specialisation in molecular biology.
Or
Medical qualification recognised by the MCI, and research experience.
|
| Work Experience |
Previous research experience.
In the case of medical graduates, post-graduate qualification (recognised
by the MCI) and an aptitude for research would be added advantages.

| Remuneration |
Those selected will receive a
consolidated salary of over Rs 15,000 per month (negotiable
according to qualification and past research experience). They will
be on an annual contract which will normally be renewed for up to
three years of service. |
Candidates may visit the Centre
and contact Lt Gen D. Raghunath, the principal executive,
or Dr K. Santhanam between 1000 and 1600 hours
(Monday to Friday). Initially, three research associates / fellows will
be recruited.
